What is Octopus in Colour?

Since the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 we have worked hard to make Octopus and our wider energy industry as inclusive as possible. We have done this by evolving our recruitment processes and partners, organising hiring manager workshops, partnering with a high school for underrepresented kids and creating internships aimed at the black community. We have hosted talks with prominent people of colour and experts in their fields, as well as donating to grassroots organisations focused on sustainability, climate justice and anti-racism.

We still need to do more and get better. This is why we’re creating a group of people to ensure we are bringing together all this work across every part of our business.

We have formed a group called Octopus in Colour.

The Octopus in Colour group is made up of 4 different streams:

  • Octopus Energy Equality Foundation - Supporting young people of colour to overcome discrimination and empowering them to succeed as they move into ambitious careers as professionals in Energy and EnvironmentalismEducating and raising awareness of equality and the importance of diversity in the Energy and Environmental sector.
